The upcoming iOS 18.2 release is eagerly awaited, with rumors pointing to significant Apple Intelligence upgrades for iPhones. Expected to launch in early December 2024, two potential release dates are currently being discussed.
British mobile carrier EE has hinted at a possible December 9 release by announcing it will end support for the “Wi-Fi calling on other supported iCloud-connected devices” feature on that date. This feature allows users to make calls from iPads and Macs when their iPhone is not nearby. The second developer beta of iOS 18.2 includes updated carrier settings for EE that remove this option, suggesting a December 9 release.
However, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has proposed an earlier release, predicting it could arrive the week of December 2. Known for his reliable Apple insights, Gurman’s estimate adds credibility to this timeframe.
Key features expected in iOS 18.2 include:
Image Playground: A new app for generating images from text descriptions, integrated within Messages and also available as a standalone app.
Visual Intelligence: Features for iPhone 16 models, like reading text aloud, identifying phone numbers and addresses, and summarizing text.
Genmoji: Customizable emojis based on descriptions and phrases.
ChatGPT Integration for Siri: Enabling Siri to use ChatGPT for answering questions and generating content.
These additions aim to make the user experience more intelligent and interactive, marking iOS 18.2 as one of the most impactful Apple updates this year, with powerful new tools and features enhancing the Apple ecosystem.
