Telegram founder Pavel Durov is scheduled to appear before a judge on Saturday evening, where he faces multiple charges, including terrorism, drug trafficking, fraud, money laundering, and the distribution of child abuse material.
According to French media, Durov, who holds both French and Russian citizenship, could face a sentence of up to 20 years in prison.
His arrest is linked to Telegram’s insufficient content moderation practices and his refusal to cooperate with French law enforcement.
The charges arise from a search warrant issued by the French National Directorate of Judicial Police.
