Halliburton is investigating the effects of a cyber-attack in collaboration with law enforcement

On Friday, Halliburton, a leading U.S. oilfield services firm, announced it is collaborating with law enforcement to assess the scope of a recent computer systems breach. The company has yet to determine if the incident will significantly affect its operations.

Halliburton, valued at $23 billion, detected the cyber attack on Wednesday, according to its initial securities filing. The company noted that its ongoing investigation involves restoring its systems and evaluating the potential impact.

To safeguard its systems, Halliburton has taken some offline. A spokesperson did not provide details on whether the attackers had made contact with the company. Reuters first reported the cyber attack on Wednesday.

The breach seems to have affected operations at Halliburton’s north Houston campus and some global connectivity networks, a source familiar with the situation revealed. Additionally, the company instructed some employees to avoid connecting to internal networks.

The U.S. Department of Energy stated on Thursday that the cyber incident had not disrupted any energy services.
