A new app aimed at easing the transition to Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) for Nigerians has been officially launched by the Presidential CNG Initiative (@PCNGInitiative). This app, now available for download on both Google Play and Apple Stores, is designed to simplify the process of converting vehicles to CNG, providing a range of user-friendly features to support this transition.
The app offers real-time information on nearby CNG conversion centers, making it easier for users to locate and access services close to their location. It also allows users to book conversion appointments directly through the platform, ensuring a seamless and convenient process. Additionally, users can take advantage of discounts on purchases related to the conversion and receive regular updates on fuel prices, helping them stay informed and manage costs effectively.
In an effort to further encourage the adoption of CNG, the Federal Government has launched the RideShare CNG Conversion Incentive Programme. This initiative offers discounted conversion services to drivers of Bolt and other rideshare companies, which is expected to lead to a significant reduction in the cost of booking rides on these platforms. By making CNG conversion more affordable for rideshare drivers, the program aims to lower operational costs and pass on savings to consumers.
The introduction of this app and the associated incentives marks a strategic step in Nigeria’s journey towards powering its transportation sector with cleaner energy. The government is committed to ensuring that the adoption of CNG is as smooth and widespread as possible, leaving no stone unturned in its efforts to promote this environmentally-friendly energy source.
